Scholarship Opportunities


There are tuition-FREE scholarships offered by some universities and there are tuition FEE scholarships offered by some to outstanding international students. Tuition fee scholarships are the second best category of scholarships after fully-funded scholarships because they cover a large portion of the awardee’s study costs.

TUITION FEE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Humber Entrance Scholarships for International Students (Canada)

Humber offers full and partial tuition waivers/scholarships to international students that will be starting classes either in January or September of every year. These scholarships are also renewable.

  • Deadline: May 19/September 29
  • Subject area: Any eligible undergraduate programme offered at Humber College
  • Award Value: 2 full tuition scholarships and one $5,000 scholarship are awarded in the September stream and in the May stream, 1 full tuition scholarship and one $5,000 scholarship are awarded. The $5,000 scholarship is used to cover the awardee’s tuition fees.

The scholarships is renewable as long as the student is able to maintain a cumulative of at least 75%.

ICSP Tuition Scholarships at University of Oregon (USA)

These scholarships are available to talented international students who require financial aid and wish to apply for the International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) at the University of Oregon. Awardees of these scholarships get a tuition-waiver in the range of $7,500 and $30,000. However, to be receive this award, the student must agree to take up to 80 hours each year of cultural service during his or her stay at the university.

  1. Applicants who wish to apply for this scholarship must either be fully admitted or admissible to the University of Oregon. Prospective students must have applied for the new session by January 15.
  2. Applicants must not be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. They mustn’t also be eligible for the U.S. Federal Finance assistance.
  3. Applicants must have a minimum of 3.0 cumulative grade point average and must be in need of financial aid.

Awardees also agree to put in 80 hours into cultural service every year depending on the program requirement.

Denys Holland Scholarship at University College London (UK)

International students who would like to pursue a degree at UCL but lack the financial sponsorship to can take advantage of the Denys Holland Scholarship provided they are able to demonstrate their intention to maximize opportunities and activities offered by the UCL and its Student Union. The scholarship provides a grant of £9,000 a year. Award recipients may decide to use all or a fraction of the grant to cover the cost of their tuition.

  • Award Value: An awardee receives a grant of £9,000 every year for 3 years provided the requirements of a satisfactory academic performance are met. Scholars may decide to use part of this grant to cover tuition fees and have the rest as a maintenance allowance.
  • Eligibility: To be considered for the award, applicants must:
  1. Have an admission offer to study for a full-time undergraduate degree at UCL
  2. Be financially unable to pursue the programme at UCL
  3. Be 25 years of age or younger at the commencement of the undergraduate programme
  4. Have broad interests and be able to demonstrate them while being involved in activities that contribute to the progress of the University.

Westminster Full Fee Scholarships for International Students (UK)

Westminster University provides some full tuition fee scholarships to exceptional and highly-talented students from countries within or outside the UK/EU. It is a full tuition fee scholarship.

  • Award Value: It only overs the full cost of tuition fees.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must have an offer to pursue a Master’s Degree programme at the University of Westminster. The major selection criteria for this scholarship is the equivalent of a UK First Class Honours Degree and the ability to demonstrate financial need.
  • Application Instructions: Applicants can apply for the scholarship provided they already have an unconditional or a conditional offer to pursue the program of choice. The application form which can be downloaded from the official website must be completed and submitted with the requisite supporting documents before May 4 and October 13 for the respective entries.

Macquarie Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships (Australia)

These scholarships provide partial tuition waivers for talented international students who wish to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate program at Macquarie University (North Ryde campus). An awardee may receive up to AUD $10,000.

  • Award Value: The scholarship is awarded as a non-renewable grant valued at approximately AUD$10,000, which is used to cover all or part of the awardee’s tuition cost. The scholarship offers no support for expenses like airfares, living expenses, visa cost, or any other cost that may relates to the study programme or the awardee.

  1. Not be citizens of Mongolia, New Zealand, Australia or an ASEAN or European country
  2. Have met the University’s English Language proficiency requirement for the proposed course of study and must have a full admission offer before the application deadline.
  3. Have earned a minimum of 90% for undergraduate applications and a minimum of 5.0 of 7.0 for postgraduate applications.
  4. Have applied for a study programme that is longer than a session
  5. Begin the study programme in the year and session indicated in the award letter (Commencement can’t be deferred)

Bristol University International Office Scholarships (UK)

The University of Bristol offers scholarships to new and outstanding international students who would like to pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at Bristol. The scholarship award is valued at a sum within the range of £8,000 and 12,000 and can be used to cover the cost of tuition.

University of West London International Ambassador Scholarships (UK)

The International Ambassador Scholarship provides financial aid to highly-talented international students for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the University. The scholarships are valued at £5,000 and may be used to cover the cost of tuition.

This scholarship is competitive and awarded based on the candidate’s ability and enthusiasm to be a remarkable international student ambassador.

UWE Chancellor’s International Scholarship (UK)

The University of West England in Bristol provides over £100,000 in scholarships to international students every year. These scholarships include the Chancellor’s Scholarship which involves the student working as an intern at the International Department Office as well as other relevant departments in the school. The recipient also receives a grant that covers the full cost of tuition for one year.

  1. Have earned the equivalent of a British 1st in an undergraduate degree
  2. Hold an unconditional (or a conditional offer in a case where IELTS or some other English proficiency test is the only condition)
  3. Be new to UWE Bristol without any previous education in the UK
  4. Be classed as international students for fees purposes
  5. Not be beneficiaries of other scholarships
  6. Provide official academic record (transcript) at the time of the application

Sheffield Hallam University Transform Together Scholarships (UK)

Transform Together Scholarships are offered to international students including non-UK students from the European Union who would like to apply for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Sheffield Hallam University. The scholarship is awarded as a 50% tuition waiver for postgraduate programme and each year of an undergraduate programme.

  3. (For postgraduate) have achieved a minimum of a 2:1 Bachelor’s Honours degree and met the academic and English Language requirements.
  4. Have an admission offer to pursue a taught postgraduate or undergraduate programme at Sheffield Hallam University
  5. Be self-sponsoring his or her studies.
  6. Be able to bear the financial responsibility of additional course-related fees.
  • Application Instructions: You are in the clear to apply for this scholarship if you already have an offer to enrol for a full-time course at the University. If you haven’t applied yet, you can check out the online prospectus to apply. You can apply for the scholarship as soon as you have received an offer. However, all forms and supporting documents must be submitted by May 31 for the September intake and November 1 for the January intake.

Bocconi Scholarships for International Students (Italy)

These scholarships are available to international students who would like to enrol for a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at Bocconi University but don’t have adequate sponsorship to pursue the programme. The scholarships are awarded as full tuition waivers worth €11,500 per year for Bachelor’s programmes and € 12,000 for Master’s programmes.

  • Eligibility: Applicants must be international students who are not citizens or residents of Italy. They must also possess a non-Italian High School Diploma for a Bachelor’s program or a Bachelor’s Degree for an MSc program earned in a country other than Italy

TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NON EU/EEA STUDENTS

University of Sussex Chancellor’s Scholarships (UK)

These scholarships are available to international students from Non-EU Countries who applied for any of the eligible full-time Postgraduate taught programmes offered at the University of Sussex. They are awarded based on the potential and academic performance of the applicant. It is awarded as a 50% waiver off the international students’ tuition fees for just one year.

  • Award Value: The scholarship is awarded as a one-year 50% international student tuition waiver
  • Eligibility: The following are criteria that must be met before an applicant is considered for the Chancellor’s International Scholarship:
  1. The applicant must have applied for and must be accepted to study for a Master’s taught degree at the University of Sussex. Eligible courses include MSc, MA, LLM, MRes, Graduate Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma.

 

The following degrees are not eligible:

  1. Courses offered by the Institute of Development excluding an MA in Gender and Development and MSc Climate Change, Development and Policy.

Leiden University Excellence Scholarships for Non-EU Students (Netherlands)

The Leiden University Excellence scholarship Programme aka LExS will be suitable for you if you are looking to purse an MSc, MA, or an LL.M at the Leiden University. It is awarded in one of these 3 ways: as a €10,000-grant for tuition only, as a €15,000 grant for tuition only, or as the equivalent of a total tuition in euros excluding the home fee.

  • Award Value: The scholarship may be awarded in one of the following ways:
  • € 10,000 of the cost of tuition
  • € 15,000 of the cost of tuition
  • Total tuition fee excluding statutory tuition fee

The award is valid till the student’s programme is over.

  • Eligibility:
  1. Applicants must be from Non-EU/EEA who would be enrolling for a Master’s programme in Leiden University in September.
  2. The applicant must also have a record of academic excellence where he or she graduated in the top 10% off his class
  3. He or she must not be eligible to receive study loans and grants under the Dutch system.
  4. Except it a Master’s programme that is a prerequisite to another Master’s programme like the LL.M advanced masters, applicants who hold master’s degrees obtained from Leiden are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Application Instructions: Before an eligible student can apply for the LExS, he or she must have made an admission application indicating his or her interest to apply for the scholarship. Applicants will be required to upload a letter of motivation on the scholarship portal. The deadline for receiving scholarship application is February 1 for September intakes and October 1 for February intakes.

Radboud Scholarship Programme for Non-EU Students (Netherlands)

This scholarship is awarded to talented and exceptional students from non-EU/EEA countries who wish to pursue English-taught master’s degree programmes at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. It gives the awardee the privilege of a tuition waiver so that he or she can pay exactly what an EEA student will pay. Other expenses covered by this scholarship include residence permit, visa, liability insurance and health insurance.

  • Subject area: The following subject areas are included in the scholarship’s scope: Historical, Literary and Cultural Studies, Language and Communication, European Law, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Mechanisms of Disease, Biology, Philosophy, Chemistry, Information Sciences, Computing Science, Medical Biology, Mathematics, Molecular Life Sciences, Science, Physics and Astronomy, Anthropology and Development Studies, Artificial Intelligence, Behavioural Science, Pedagogical Sciences, Cognitive Neuroscience, Social and Cultural Science.
  • Number of Scholarships offered: Approximately 30 scholarships every year
  • Award Value: The scholarship is not a full one and it does not cover the student’s living expense. It is, however, offered as a grant that waives the tuition fees to the amount an EEA student will pay. So someone who receives this grant will be expected to pay €2,060 instead of €10,856. It will also cover other costs like those for residence permit, and health insurance which amounts to about €940.
  • Eligibility: To qualify for a Radboud Scholarship you must:
  1. Have a non-EU/EEA passport
  2. Not be eligible for the lower EEA tuition fee for any other reason
  3. Have earned or will earn a Bachelor’s Degree in an institution outside the Netherlands with no degrees achieved or education received in the Netherlands.
  4. Have received a formal letter of admission for an English-taught Master’s programme for the next academic year or have been enrolled at the Radboud University as a full-time Master’s student for the course and academic year the scholarship is to be awarded.
  5. Be able to meet the conditions necessary to obtain a Netherlands visa.
  • Application Instructions: The admission and the scholarship applications are integrated so that an applicant doesn’t have to submit separate applications. You can apply for a Radboud scholarship when you indicate during the admission application process that you want to apply for it.

Lund University Global Scholarships for Non-EU/EEA Students (Sweden)

The Lund University Global Scholarship Programme aims to provide talented and top academic students who re from countries that are not members of the EU/EEA with full or partial tuition waivers. Typically, the waivers cover 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of the awardee’s tuition. It is important to note that this scholarship doesn’t cover the awardee’s living expenses.

  • Subject area: Any Undergraduate or Graduate programme offered at the University

  • Award Value: The scholarship awards are for tuition fees only and they can cover 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of the cost of tuition.
  • Eligibility: The following criteria must be met before a candidate is considered for this scholarship:
  1. Applicants must be citizens of non-EU/EEA countries (Including Switzerland) and must be assessed as international fee-paying students.
  2. Applicants must have applied to pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s Programme for a minimum of one semester at Lund University.
  3. They must also meet the Lund’s admission requirements.
  • Application Instructions: If you’ll like to apply for this scholarship, you must apply for a course of study at Lund University through the online application website first (between October 16 and January 15). You will be able to apply for the scholarship as soon as you have submitted the course application and paid the required application fee.

KTH Tuition Waivers (Sweden)

A few tuition fee waivers are made available to international students from countries outside the EU/EEA who wish to pursue a Master’s programme and are required to fund their tuition fees. There are better chances of an applicant to receive this award if he or she is applying to KTH. If and when it is granted, the awardee’s tuition will be waived for the entire length of the programme.

  • Award Value: The tuition fees for the first and second year of an awardee’s programme are waived provided he or she has satisfied achieves satisfactory results at the end of each year.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be citizens of non-EU/EEA/EFTA countries who are classed as international fee-paying students and have applied for a Master’s programme at KTH.
  • Application Instructions: Online applications are open from December 1 to January 16.

Emily Boutmy Scholarships for International Students (France)

This scholarship was created and named by the Sciences Po after the founder of the school. It was introduced as a strategy to attract the best and highly talented international students who are from non-EU/EEA countries. Awardees must have been admitted to Sciences Po to purse an Undergraduate or Master’s programme and must be first-time applicants. The scholarship ranges from €5,000 to €10,000 for 2 years of an applicant’s postgraduate study or €3,000 to €12,300 for 3 years of an applicant’s undergraduate study.

  • Undergraduate: The award value is usually in the range of €3,000 and €12,300 for 3 years of an undergraduate programme. In exceptional cases, an award of €19,000 may be given to cover the 3 years of undergraduate programme.
  • Master’s: It can be awarded as a €10,000-grant that covers the cost of tuition for each year of the 2 years of a Master’s programme or as a grant of €5,000 every year to cover the cost of tuition for 2 years.
  • Eligibility: Candidates must be first-time applicants who are from non-EU countries and are unable to fund an Undergraduate or Master’s programme for which they’ve been admitted. The academic performance, type of profile and social factors are considered during the selection process.
  • Application Instructions: If you wish to apply for this scholarship, you must indicate your interest to apply in the ‘Financial Information’ section of the Sciences Po course application. You will also need to include documents and proof of income showing what your family finances look like. The closing date for undergraduate programmes is April 26 and for Master’s programmes it is January 3.

Danish State Tuition Fee Waivers and Scholarships at Roskilde University (Denmark)

Highly talented international students from non-EU/EEA who need residence permit to pursue a postgraduate degree at Roskilde University can take advantage of the Danish State tuition waivers. The scholarships are awarded as tuition waivers including a grant of about DKK 7,800 every month to cover the cost of living expenses in Denmark.

  • Award Value: The scholarship is awarded as tuition fee waiver and a grant of DKK 7,800 as living allowance in Denmark every month. This scholarship is awarded for a maximum length of 22 months for programmes that start in September.

Nottingham Developing Solutions Scholarships (UK)

These scholarships are primarily offered to international students from African countries, India, or any developing country that is a member of the Commonwealth. It is awarded to students who would like to pursue a Master’s programme at the University of Nottingham with the intention to return to their home country where they will contribute to its development. 30 of the 105 scholarships offered annually cover the full cost of tuition while the remaining 75 cover 50% of it.

  • Number of Scholarships offered: Approximately 105 scholarships with 30 of them awarded as full-tuition waivers and 75 of them awarded as 50% tuition waivers.
  • Award Value: The scholarship simply offers 50% to 100% financial support towards the cost of tuition
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be a permanent resident of India or an African country. He or she could also be from any one of the following Commonwealth countries:

  1. Must be classed as a foreign student with respect to fee payment
  2. Should not have studied outside their country of residence
  3. Must not be current students or graduates of University of Nottingham
  4. Must have received an offer to commence a full-time Master’s programme (Including MRes) at the University within any one of these faculties: Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Social Science, and faculty of Science.
  • Application Instructions: You must have received an offer of admission to enrol for a full-time Master’s programme in any one of the aforementioned faculties before you are granted access to the scholarship application. Admission applications should be submitted at least 6 weeks before the scholarship deadline. This way, the admissions board will have enough time to process your application and also grant you access to the scholarship application if you are granted admission. The scholarship deadline is March 24 by 12 noon (UK time)

GDI Development Leaderships Scholarships at Manchester University (UK)

Annually, the Global Development Institute (GDI) offers nine scholarships to international students who are from developing countries and wish to pursue a Master’s programme in September. The scholarships offered are awarded as full tuition waivers.

    • They must be citizens and residents of a DAC-listed least developed, lower-middle income or low-income country.
    • Applicants must not have studied in an OECD country
    • Applicants must have earned a First Class Honours or its equivalent in an undergraduate programme. He or she must have also scored 6.5 or higher on the IELTS (or its equivalent), with a score of 6.5 in the writing section and scores not less than 6.0 in other sections of the test.
  • Application Instructions: To apply, you are required to submit a 500-word essay on how you’ll apply what you will learn or are learning will help you develop a career in development leadership. For applications for September, the closing date is May 26. You are advised to submit earlier.
