To apply for a scholarship you must be able to meet the criteria for eligibility stated by the scholarship body. One of which is nationality. There are scholarships that are specific to countries or regions which you must take note of. Nonetheless, there are some other scholarships that are suitable for all international students which are listed below:

INTERNATIONAL BACHELORS SCHOLARSHIP OPEN TO ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

ICSP Tuition Scholarships at University of Oregon (USA)

These scholarships are available to talented international students who require financial aid and wish to apply for the International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) at the University of Oregon. Awardees of these scholarships get a tuition-waiver in the range of $7,500 and $30,000. However, to be receive this award, the student must agree to take up to 80 hours each year of cultural service during his or her stay at the university.

  2. Applicants must not be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. They mustn’t also be eligible for the U.S. Federal Finance assistance.
  3. Applicants must have a minimum of 3.0 cumulative grade point average and must be in need of financial aid.

Awardees also agree to put in 80 hours into cultural service every year depending on the program requirement.

Clark University Global Scholars Program (USA)

You will find this suitable for you if you are not a permanent resident or citizen of the United States. If you are a citizen and or a permanent resident who is undergoing and will complete secondary school education overseas, you are also not left out. The awardees get a scholarship within the range of $5,000 and 25,000 each year as well as a guaranteed sum of $2,500 taxable allowance when the awardee works as a paid intern or research assistant in the summer following his or her sophomore or junior year.

Awardees also enjoy full access to Global Scholars Mentor Program and a semi-annual dinner by the Clark University’s President. They will be assigned to faculty advisers and will also receive mentorship from staff members and alumni leadership mentors.

  • Eligibility: Applicants must be first-year international applicants and not transfer students. International students who have attended school in the United States may be considered as well.

They must also be able to demonstrate leadership commitment to their community and make a difference in the world at large.

For those whose needs are more than the amount offered by the Global Scholars Program, they may eligible to receive an additional grant of $5,000.

  • Application Instructions: To apply, you should check the option on the Common Application while applying to indicate your interest in the program. This form is usually available after August 1. A detailed information will then be sent to you on how you can apply for the scholarship. There’s an essay you are required to submit during the application before February 1 for Early Decision, Early Action, and Early Decision candidates.

International Leaders of Tomorrow Award at University of British Columbia

The University of British Columbia (UBC) offers undergraduate scholarships for outstanding secondary and post-secondary international students. Students who win these awards receive financial aid that covers their tuition fees and living expenses, excluding the contributions that can be made by the student and his or her family to cover other costs.

  • Award Value: Awardees receive the equivalent of a financial aid that is sufficient enough to undertake an undergraduate programme minus the sum the awardee and his or her family are able to contribute annually. So when shortlisted, the awardee receives aid based on the financial information that he or she provides.

Awards are renewable as long as the awardee’s academic performance meets the stipulated standard at the end of each academic year. The renewal will also depend on whether he or she demonstrates the need for it and is able to maintain a student visa.

  • Eligibility: candidates must have been nominated by the school they are being transferred from the high school they have just graduated or will be graduating from. For an applicant to be considered for this award he or she must:
  1. Be applying for an undergraduate programme
  2. Must be admissible to the first choice program and meet the English Language Admission Standard of UBC
  3. Have a an excellent and proven academic record with an ‘A’ average or its equivalent
  4. Not be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada but an international student with a Canadian Study Permit
  5. Must demonstrate financial need sufficient enough to prevent them from pursuing the program at UBC
  6. Must be coming into UBC from a recognized high school or transferred from a college or university of the sort.

And all packages must be sent in by November 15. Nominees are also required to complete the online admission application by December 1 and must have met the English Language Admission Requirement by January 31 of the following year.

Humber College International Entrance Scholarships

Humber College provides awardees with renewable partial and full scholarships to fresh international students starting in the Fall (September) or Spring (January) of every year.

York University International Student Scholarship Program (Canada)

Some of the scholarships offered by York University to international students who would like to pursue a full-time bachelor’s degree at the University of York are: Global Leader of Tomorrow Scholarships, International Entrance Scholarships, and United World College Scholarships. These scholarships are valued within the range of $60,000 and $100,000 for a 4-year degree program.

Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarships (Australia)

 The International Undergraduate Scholarships by the University of Melbourne is an initiative by the University to recognize the contribution made by international student to its cultural diversity. The scholarship is awarded as a partial tuition waiver.

The scholarship is awarded in 5 different rounds: November, December, and January for the students who would like to begin the undergraduate program in Semester 1 or 2 and April and May for others who would be starting in Semester 2.

Denys Holland Scholarship at University College London (UK)

These scholarship provides financial aid to prospective international students from any country who wish to pursue an undergraduate programme but won’t be able to pursue the same without the financial support offered. Awardees must be able to demonstrate their intentions to optimize the activities offered the Student Union and UCL. This scholarship provides the awardee with £9,000 every year. Once awarded, he or she is at liberty to use all or some of it to cover the fees.

INTERNATIONAL BACHELORS/MASTERS SCHOLARSHIPS TO ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Sheffield Hallam University Transform Together Scholarships (UK)

Transform Together Scholarships are offered to international students including non-UK students from the European Union who would like to apply for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Sheffield Hallam University. The scholarship is awarded as a 50% tuition waiver for postgraduate programme and each year of an undergraduate programme.

Monash University International Merit Scholarships (Australia)

The International Merit Scholarships are some of the scholarships offered by Monash University to outstanding international students who would like to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Monash University. It is valued at $10,000 paid for each year of a full-time study.

  • Participating Institutions: Monash University in Australia

  • Deadline: The deadline is based on the selection round which depends on the commencement of the programme. For instance, the deadlines for rounds 1 and 2 are 15 October and 15 November respectively for programs that starts in semester 1 or 2 of the following year, while the deadline of round 3 is 15 January for a program that begins in semester 1 or 2 of the current year. For programs that begin in semester 2 of the current year, rounds 3, 4, and 5 are the official selection rounds and the deadline for applying are 15 March, 15 April, and 15 May respectively.
  • Subject area: Any full-time undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) degree excluding Master of Business Administration and Monash Pathway Programs or Doctor of Medicine and Bachelor of Medical Science

  • Award Value: A full value of course fees are paid every year as long as the minimum number of points required for the degree have been acquired (70% or above for each semester). This excludes accommodation and living costs.

Bologna University Study Grants for International Students (Italy)

The University of Bologna offers scholarships to outstanding international students who would like to apply for a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at the University of Bologna. Each grant amounts to a sum of €11,059 and is awarded for one academic session.

  1. have qualifications necessary to meet the admission requirements for the First, Single or Second Cycle degree programmes. Qualifications from the Republic of San Marino are not eligible and the applicant’s citizenship is not a criteria.
  2. have fulfilled (or will at the time of programme registration fulfil) all the access requirements of the intended degree programme.

Bocconi University Scholarships for International Students (Italy)

These scholarships are available to international students who would like to enrol for a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at Bocconi University. The scholarships are awarded as full tuition waivers worth €11,500 per year for Bachelor’s programmes and € 12,000 for Master’s programmes.

INTERNATIONAL MASTERS SCHOLARSHIPS OPEN TO ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Westminster Full-fee Scholarships for International Students (UK)

Westminster University makes offers of full tuition scholarships to outstanding students from countries within or outside the UK/EU. This scholarship covers only the full cost of the awardee’s tuition and nothing more.

  • Subject area: Any full-time Master’s Degree Programme (except MBA) offered at the University
  • Number of Scholarships offered: Approximately 4 scholarships for the September stream and 1 for the January stream
  • Award Value: It only overs the full cost of tuition fees.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must have an offer to pursue a Master’s Degree programme at the University of Westminster. The major selection criteria for this scholarship is the equivalent of a UK First Class Honours Degree and the ability to demonstrate financial need.
  • Application Instructions: Applicants can apply for the scholarship provided they already have an unconditional or a conditional offer to pursue the program of choice. The application form which can be downloaded from the official website must be completed and submitted with the requisite supporting documents before May 4 and October 13 for the respective entries.

ETH Excellence Scholarships (Switzerland)

If you are looking to pursue a Master’s degree at ETH, then you should take advantage of these scholarships. The Excellence Scholarship and Opportunity Programme (ESOP) offers international students a grant that covers study and living expenses at CHF 11,000 for each semester including a tuition waiver. The Master Scholarship Programme (MSP) provides a partial stipend of CHF 6,000 each semester for study and living expenses including a tuition waiver.

  • Subject area: Any eligible Master’s programme offered at the University.
  • Number of Scholarships offered: Depends on how much funds are available.
  • Award Value: The Excellence Scholarship provides a grant that covers study and living expenses at 11,000 CHF for every semester and a tuition-fee waiver.

The Master Scholarship provides a partial stipend that covers study and living expenses to an extent and a tuition-fee waiver. The awardee’s department may also make an offer of 1,500 to 3,000 CHF every semester or make an offer of assistantship that begins from the 2nd semester of the master’s programme where he or she earns 600 CHF every month. The MSP requires some contribution from the awardee.

Both scholarships take effect from the day the awardee begins his or her programme and it lasts for the 3 or 4 months of the programme.

  • Eligibility: Applications are open to international students and students from ETH or other universities and colleges who wish to pursue a Master’s programme at ETH. Applicants must be in the top 10% of their graduating class to be considered for the scholarships.
  • Application Instructions: You can apply for the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme or the Master Scholarship Programme if you apply for a Master’s programme at the University simultaneously or if you are currently enrolled for a Bachelor’s programme and wish to continue with a Master’s Programme consecutively.

University of Lausanne Master’s Grant for Foreign Students (Switzerland)

If you are an international student and would like to pursue a Master’s programme at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland then you should take advantage of the UNIL Master’s Grant. A beneficiary of this grant receives CHF 1,600 every month for a duration within the minimum period of the programme, which is usually between September 15 and July 15.

  2. Have excellent and outstanding academic results
  3. Have a B2 (according to the European Language Portfolio Global Scale) in English or French based on the language in which the chosen Master’s course is taught.
  4. Not have registered with UNIL in the past
  5. Pay an administration fee of CHF 200.
  • Application Instructions: The application to register at UNIL doubles as the application for Master’s scholarship and an application for admission into a Master’s programme; which must be sent by post to UNIL’s Social Affairs and Student Mobility Service (SASME) before November 1.

University Twente Scholarships (UTS) are for outstanding students from member and non-member countries of the EU/EEA who would like to pursue an MSc at the University of Twente. The worth of the award could range from €6,000 to €25,000 for a year.

  • Have received a provisional admission into one of the participating Master’s programmes. (It may take about 8 weeks for applicants to get a feedback after submitting this application)
  • Not be a graduate of a UT programme
  • Comply with the conditions necessary to obtain a visa into the Netherlands
  • Must have a score of at least 6.5 on the IELTS (with 90 on the TOEFL iBT) and a 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) on the Speaking section.
  • Not be eligible for a Dutch study grant
  • Belong to the top 5% to 10 % of their graduating class

TU Delft Excellence Scholarships (Netherlands)

The Delft University of Technology offers excellence-based scholarship awards to international students every year. One of its scholarships is the Justus and Louise van Effen scholarship which aims to provide financial support to international students who wish to pursue a programme at TU Delft. It is a full scholarship that covers tuition fees and provides the student with monthly allowance for living expenses.

École Normale Supérieure International Selection (France)

Every year, ENS offers scholarships to 30 promising and talented international student who would like to pursue a 2 or 3-year programme at ENS. Each awardee receives a monthly allowance of €1,000 and on-campus accommodation for the duration of the programme.

Schwarzman Scholars Program at Tsinghua University (China)

The Schwarzman Scholars Program is an initiative of the Tsinghua University to help the world’s brightest international students with the opportunity to hone their leadership skills and develop their professional network through a 1-year Master’s programme at the university.

  • Number of Scholarships offered: About 200 students are awarded every year
  • Award Value: Scholars receive a grant that covers tuition and related fees, travel to Beijing and back to their home country, room and board, in-country tour, books and supplies relevant to the study program, a Lenovo smartphone and laptop, a personal stipend of $3,500, and health insurance.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must have earned or will successfully earn an undergraduate degree (or its equivalent) by August 1 before orientation begins at Tsinghua University. There are no specific eligible courses. However, applicants should be able to show how the selected course of study will help them develop leadership potential in their chosen field.

Age: Applicants must not be as old as 29 years of age but not younger than 18 years by August 1.

English language proficiency:  Applicants must have a strong command of English because all courses will be instructed in English language. In a case where English is not the applicant’s native language, he or she is required to submit scores from an official English proficiency test. Here are the acceptable tests:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT)
  • Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT)
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

However, if the applicant earned a degree from an institution where he or she was instructed in English language for at least 2 years, then this criterion will be waived.

Gates Cambridge Scholarships (UK)

 These scholarships are full-cost grants for taught and research-based graduate programmes offered to international students from countries all over the world who would like to enrol at the University of Cambridge for a full-time postgraduate degree. It covers all expenses related to the student’s programme at the university. These costs include the university fees, airfare, maintenance allowance, and some of the dependent’s allowance.

  • Subject area: PhD, MLitt or MSc in a one year postgraduate programme in any course taught at the University

  • Award Value: An awardee of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship receives a grant that covers the cost of tuition, maintenance, and travelling among other expenses. In essence it covers all expenses related to studying at Cambridge. Other funds it may provide include discretionary funding like family allowance and academic development.
  • Eligibility: To apply for this scholarship, candidates may be citizens of any country other than the United Kingdom. They must also be applying to pursue a PhD (3-year research degree); an MSc or MLitt (2-year research degree), or a 1-year postgraduate course.
  • Application Instructions: Applicants are required to submit a graduate admission and funding application through the University’s Graduate Portal. The deadline for the Gates Cambridge application is October 11 for US citizens that are resident in the US and December 6 for other applicants that meet the eligibility requirements.

Clarendon Scholarships at University of Oxford (UK)

This scholarship fund is a prestigious graduate award scheme that offers about 140 new scholarships annually to eligible UK and international graduate applicants for degree-bearing subjects offered at the University of Oxford. These scholarships are awarded based on applicants’ potential and academic excellence. Each one covers the complete value of the college and tuition fees and a grant sufficient for the applicant’s living expenses.

  • Award Value: The Clarendon Scholarships are full scholarships and they are paid for the full length of the scholars’ study period. Scholars pursuing a full-time course are given generous annual grants as living allowance. This could be £14,553 or more while those on part-time courses get a support grant that covers their non-fee costs.
  • Eligibility: The Clarendon Scholarships are open to all students including international students. However, the potential and academic performance of an applicant is a major criterion for eligibility. This is why the focus is usually on students with outstanding academic performance.
  • Application Instructions: Applicants for full or part-time Master’s or DPhil courses at the University who apply by the deadline are usually considered for the Clarendon Scholarship immediately. This means that, although additional documents may be required for the scholarship, there is no separate application for the scholarship.

So it is important that you submit your admission application before the deadline if you wish to be considered for this scholarship.

Warwick Chancellor’s International Scholarships (UK)

The Warwick Graduate School offers about 25 Chancellor’s International Scholarships annually to PhD applicants who have a proven track record of academic excellence. They are open to students from any country around the world who would like to pursue a PhD in any subject area taught at Warwick. These scholarships covers the full tuition fee and maintenance allowance.

Adelaide Scholarships International (Australia)

These scholarships are awarded by the University of Adelaide to attract highly-talented postgraduate students from any country of the world who wish to support the university’s research strength by enrolling for a research-based program. They include tuition fees for the research work, living expenses for the research period at the school, as well as the student’s health insurance.

Applicants are required to have earned the equivalent of an Australian First Class Honours degree from a 4-year programme with a major research project in his or her final year. The scholarship is awarded based on merit and doesn’t consider extracurricular activities.

They must not hold the equivalent of an Australian Research Doctorate Degree if they are applying for a Master’s by research programme or a research qualification higher than the equivalent of an Australian Master’s by Research degree.

Applicants who haven’t met the requirements of English language proficiency and/or are permanent residents and citizens of Australia are not eligible to apply.

University of Sydney International Research Scholarships (Australia)

To apply for the University of Sydney International Research Scholarship (USydIS), applicants must be eligible to enrol for a Master’s by Research Degree or a Postgraduate Research Degree at the University of Sydney. The scholarship award covers tuition fees and living allowances for 3 years of the applicant’s academic period.

  1. Be international students who will be commencing or commenced within a 6-month time frame a Higher Degree Research programme at the University
  2. Be pursuing a research degree in one of the research areas the University considers as its areas of strengths.
  3. Not have a research degree equivalent to an Australian Research degree for PhD applicants and for Master’s by research applicants, they must not have the equivalent of an Australian Master’s by research degree or higher.
  4. Not have been a beneficiary of an Australian scholarship 2 years prior to the commencement of this scholarship.
  5. Not be a beneficiary of a scholarship that covers the cost of tuition to which the Australian Government makes a contribution.

Except an applicant was a beneficiary of an RTP scholarship for a Master’s by Research programme and has completed the programme to apply for the doctorate research degree, he or she must not have received the RTP Scholarship.

University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships (Canada)

The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships (UMGF) are awarded to international students who have demonstrated academic excellence and will be registered for Masters or PhD programmes as full-time graduate students at the University. The worth of the award is valued at $14,000 for Master’s students and $18,000 for PhD students for 12 calendar months.
